Kaylee from Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” or “Serenity” is a seriously great costume. Her outfit is modest, cute and yet a bit gritty. She’s also one of my favorite female characters of all time. :)

  • Question: Hi! Could you tell me how to make that Didi Pickles wig? - get-up-world
  • Answer:

I’m not really sure but it looks like maybe a wire frame with papier-mâché and then some orange synthetic hair

I know I’ve shown a Daria and Jane costume from the MTV cartoon Daria, before but this time it’s me as Jane! This was a super easy costume to put together.  I only had to buy one thing and that was the wig.  Everything else I had.

Ok so this isn’t a character costume but isn’t it rad? And super cute. She’s a bottle of Sriaracha sauce!

I absolutely love this costume.  If I didn’t already have my costume picked for this year I would definitely go as Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon. Way cool.

Yeah this might be too difficult for most people to do, but dang this is cool. And you don’t need Gaston or the Beast to make it complete. Anyone will know that you’re Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

I love Disney, so when Enchanted came out I fell in love with Giselle. Here’s her in a fairly simple pink dress.

If you don’t mind being a few years behind, this is an awesome costume of Trillian from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.  The great thing is it’s recognizable enough to go it alone or with your own Zaphod.  I also think the version of her in shorts from earlier in the movie would be cute to do.

Whether you go as Storm from the cartoon or live version of X-Men, there’s three things you’re definitely gonna need:  silvery white hair, a flowing black cape and lots of pleather.
