I’m not sure if this counts as a lady’s costume, but some women might be willing to give it a go as Edna Turnblad from Hairspray.

How about Tracy Turnblad from the awesome musical Hairspray? It’s very recognizable, great for the more full figured ladies among us, and if you live in Baltimore, it might just be perfect.

I wish there were more of these costumes out there as this one is not a perfect remake but what could be greater than being this annoying character from Singin’ In the Rain? I mean, you get to talk in a whiny voice all night.

I’m not exactly sure why this has to be a hipster Ariel, but the implementation is still pretty cool without having to wear a bikini top in October. So I’d say ditch the black rimmed glasses, check out this blog http://blog.henkaa.com/fashion-styling/halloween-with-henkaa-hipster-ariel-costume, or figure it out on your own. The addition of a long red wig will certainly make it legit. Gotta love The Little Mermaid.

Okay, I know Rufio is a guy, but sometimes costumes are done in such a way that they can be played by either gender. So if you’ve never seen Hook, you’re definitely missing out on this bangarang costume possibility.

Continuing with the Firefly theme, here’s another great kick-butt gal. River Tam, shown here with her brother Simon. She’s great as this duo or as a standalone character. And she has multiple great outfits to choose from.  Just add a slightly disturbed look to your eye.

Kaylee from Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” or “Serenity” is a seriously great costume. Her outfit is modest, cute and yet a bit gritty. She’s also one of my favorite female characters of all time. :)

  • Question: Hi! Could you tell me how to make that Didi Pickles wig? - get-up-world
  • Answer:

I’m not really sure but it looks like maybe a wire frame with papier-mâché and then some orange synthetic hair

I know I’ve shown a Daria and Jane costume from the MTV cartoon Daria, before but this time it’s me as Jane! This was a super easy costume to put together.  I only had to buy one thing and that was the wig.  Everything else I had.
